I don't have a lot to say about this drawing. This week we read a double parsha of Hukat and Balak. Lots of adventure and intrigue mixed with sadness. We read about the red calf, Miriam's death, the people complain AGAIN, then Moshe hits the rock instead of using the magic word. He is told he can't go into Israel. Aaron dies. Plague and defeating enemies. Then Balak tried to use Bilaam to curse the peole of Israel, and it backfires, "How fair are your tents, O Jacob, Your dwellings, O Israel!" (Numbers 24:5). Then some sinning and more plague, all stopped by Pinchas! Teaser for next week's parsha!
I was thinking about all of this and also none of this as I was drawing this week. A special thank you to Judith, who led our Torah class this week, for reminding me that I don't always need a plan when I start out. So, here you go. Blessings and curses with some water, red calf, and tents all thrown in.
